Rebecca Cook, director
of the National Center for Disability Education
and Training, has over 30 years of experience in
the disability field, primarily focused on employment
of people with significant disabilities.
After
earning her master's degree in psychology from
Oklahoma State University in 1973, Rebecca was
employed by the Department of Rehabilitation
Services, where she held several administrative
positions. She directed statewide programs in supported
employment and other specialized community-based
job placement services for people with disabilities.
Rebecca's involvement included working with Career
Planning Centers, Transition Programs, the Jobs
Creation Program and Deaf Services and she served
as Tribal Liaison and Medical Payments Liaison.
She has served on numerous statewide advisory
boards and councils related to diverse disability
issues. Rebecca's work has been recognized by the
Council of State Governments, the Pioneer Foundation
of Better Government and the Innovations in American
Government competition sponsored by the Ford
Foundation and the Kennedy School of Government
at Harvard University.
