The Writing Successful Grants KnowledgeBase is an online resource aiding education professionals in their pursuit of public and private grants to support local programs. Its five elements contain information and resources that assist the grant seeker with developing their project, writing the grant proposal and managing the grant upon its award.

Task 1: Examine Grades 4-5

Guideline: Understanding adolescent literacy development in grades 4 and 5 is a necessary step in applying instructional strategies aimed at improving academic achievement.

Adolescent Literacy Programs: Costs of Implementation

This link is to the Carnegie Corporation of New York's report addressing implementation costs associated with adolescent literacy programs. The report discusses the implementation of three example programs to illustrate the issues that should be addressed. The report may be useful to educators responsible for identifying program costs prior to presentations to district leaders and school board members.

 

Adolescent Literacy Walk-Through for Principals

This link is to a Center on Instruction (COI) guide for principals. As noted at the COI website, "This guide, designed to help principals monitor and support adolescent literacy instruction in their schools more effectively, can be used at the late elementary school level, in content-area classes in middle and high school and with intervention groups or classes."
