Teachers and Administrators in Norman and Oklahoma City Schools share successes
with the Early Learning Quick Assessments (ELQA) as developed at the University of Oklahoma.

The Early Literacy Quick Assessment or ELQA team of Susan Kimmel and Jennifer Quillian
recently visited the Woodrow Wilson School in Norman, OK. The purpose of the visit was to
catch up with Ann Rosales, Early Childhood Coordinator for Norman Public Schools and find
out how her classrooms have been using the ELQA Assessment and its reports to help
students in the Norman schools

More Praise for ELQA

“The reports provided important information that helped me work with students on specific concepts. I also used the reports at parent conferences and with quarterly report cards to show progress. Reports were also shared with my principal.”

Pre-K Teacher
Oklahoma City, OK

“ELQA is the just right assessment tool for pre-k! This tool allows five opportunities during the year to objectively view a student’s progress. ELQA is a great addition to a pre-k portfolio. My students’ parents love it! My kids feel empowered as they see their improvements. ELQA is just what I was looking for!”

Pre-K Teacher
Moore, Oklahoma

“I find the continuation of growth that is shown per student and as a class very valuable.”

Pre-K Teacher
Dewey, Oklahoma

“The ELQA provides valuable information about foundational pre-literacy skills for tiered instruction and data-driven decision-making. Our literacy coaches were able to assist teachers in using ELQA data to adjust their small groups as students’ performance changed. Teachers were eye witnesses to their students’ growth as coaches encouraged them to use ELQA to make positive changes in instruction.”
