INSTRUCTIONAL COACHING INNOVATIONS

Center for Early Childhood Professional Development

WHAT IS AN INSTRUCTIONAL COACH?

Instructional coaches are on-site change agents who work with educators on how to successfully implement effective, research-based teaching techniques and practices. Instructional coaches utilize a variety of methods to encourage high-quality implementation of interventions, leading to sustainability of the newly acquired skills. They also use guided reflective practices and a partnership approach to accelerate each teacher’s professional learning.

WHY USE INSTRUCTIONAL COACHING INNOVATIONS?

Few opportunities exist for instructional coaches to receive high-quality, professional development specific to their role. Instructional Coaching Innovations serves instructional coaches, from novice to expert, by offering professional development options that will improve understanding and skills. We also work with schools and districts to create a seamless system of professional development that includes effective instructional coaching.

Instructional Coaching Innovations was established by OU’s Center for Early Childhood Professional Development to provide professional development and training for instructional coaches.
