The Early Language and Literacy KnowledgeBase is an online resource supporting language and literacy development in early learners from birth through age eight. Its focus is to support parents and caregivers in helping early learners with their language and literacy development, and teachers in enhancing their instruction for early learners from pre-Kindergarten through Grade 3.

Task 2: Develop Curriculum Maps

Guideline: Curriculum mapping enables educators of early learners focus on the what, how, and result of instruction. Possessing an awareness of curriculum mapping concepts enables educators of early learners enhance the language and literacy development of their early learner students.

The Curriculum Mapping KnowledgeBase is an online resource supporting education professionals in the development and use of curriculum mapping as part of their instructional strategies. The KnowledgeBase is based on four phases derived from The Curriculum Mapping Planner: Templates, Tools, and Resources for Effective Professional Development, authored by Heidi Hayes Jacobs and Ann Johnson, and published by ASCD: Alexandria, VA.
