The Writing Successful Grants KnowledgeBase is an online resource aiding education professionals in their pursuit of public and private grants to support local programs. Its five elements contain information and resources that assist the grant seeker with developing their project, writing the grant proposal and managing the grant upon its award.

Task 1: Review Organizational Needs and Assessment Output

Guideline: The project team's first task is to review the results from the organizational assessment conducted under Element 1. In doing so, the team has a common information set identifying the organization's needs and capabilities.

Analyzing Program Needs and Setting Goals

This tool is useful for recording the results of data collection with the goal of identifying the school's strengths and needs, and proposing the core goals. It is suggested that a different analysis sheet be completed for each focus area studied.      Alternate format: PDF

Suggested Project Selection Process

This process is adapted from the Pennsylvania Workforce Investment Act website Grant Proposal Worksheet. The nine steps listed here with supporting worksheets may help project teams define broad problems, identify the underlying causes, and develop a project idea to address those causes.
