The Positive Learning Climates KnowledgeBase is an online resource to aid educators in nurturing school climates conducive to learning. It is organized around five elements aimed at developing a positive learning climate.

Task 1: Designate Work Teams to Address Goals

Guideline: The selected strategies will most likely have multiple goals associated with them. A work team comprised of school staff members, parents, public safety officials and possibly community leaders is an effective way to address those goals. The principal might designate a member of the school's planning team to monitor the work team and address impediments that affect the team's ability to accomplish the goals.

Stages of Team Growth

Every team goes through a development process. From the beginning, it is critical for team members to understand they will experience a process of maturation and growth. An orientation program for team members should address how a team matures and develops. This guide, reproduced from the Team Handbook authored by Peter Scholtes, provides team members with an awareness of the stages of team growth.
