The Positive Learning Climates KnowledgeBase is an online resource to aid educators in nurturing school climates conducive to learning. It is organized around five elements aimed at developing a positive learning climate.

Task 4: Review with District Superintendent

Guideline: Prior to finalizing the strategies aimed at improving the school's learning climate, the principal should schedule time with the district's superintendent to review them with him or her. Keeping the superintendent informed assures the strategies are aligned with the district's perspective. As the principal deems warranted, the superintendent's suggestions should be reviewed with the school's work team. Revisions suggested by the district superintendent would be included following this review.

This guide offers a checklist for the principal to use when reviewing the school improvement plan with the district superintendent and/or his or her designee. It is intended as an aid for the principal in preparing for this dialog and not as an all-encompassing discussion list.
