The Positive Learning Climates KnowledgeBase is an online resource to aid educators in nurturing school climates conducive to learning. It is organized around five elements aimed at developing a positive learning climate.

Task 5: Establish Measurable Goals

Guideline: The methods and strategies aimed at improving a school's learning climate should be associated with measurable goals. A measurable goal is one with a quantifiable outcome, a timeline for accomplishment and an assigned party responsible for its accomplishment. The timeframe for goals should be consistent with the school's overall strategic timeframe.

This document provides specific guidelines for creating specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely goals.

Analyzing Program Needs and Setting Goals

This tool is useful for recording the results of data collection with the goal of identifying the school's strengths and needs and proposing the core goals. It is suggested that a different analysis sheet be completed for each focus area studied.
