OKLAHOMA WORK INCENTIVES
PLANNING AND ASSISTANCE PROJECT

OKLAHOMA WORK INCENTIVES PLANNING ASSISTANCE (OWIPA)

The Oklahoma Work Incentives Planning and Assistance Project (OWIPA) resumed services to Social Security beneficiaries on October 1, 2013. OWIPA is a project operated by the National Center for Disability Education and Training, a department within the Division of Public and Community Services of OU Outreach.

The OWIPA Project provides direct work incentives planning and assistance services to disability beneficiaries receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI)  and/or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) beneficiaries across the state of Oklahoma to assist them in their employment efforts. The OWIPA staff support beneficiaries in retaining/sustaining meaningful employment at significant earnings levels, and by doing so, seek to improve their economic security.

WORK INCENTIVES PLANNING

Who is eligible for Work Incentive Planning and Assistance (OWIPA)?

Individuals between the ages of 14 and full retirement age who are receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI) due to a disability and/or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) who are employed or are considering employment are eligible for OWIPA services.

OWIPA staff also provide access to information on other Federal/State/Local programs, as well as Social Security Work Incentives. Information regarding Medicaid/Medicare and alternative health insurance programs is available for beneficiaries needing guidance when determining healthcare needs.

The staff can provide assistance with assessing the beneficiary's current benefit situation, resolving work incentive issues, and exploring employment options.
