DUAL LANGUAGE ASSESSMENTS
New for the 2021-22 school year, we have pre-kindergarten assessments available in Spanish!
With Dual Language Learners (DLL) representing one of the fastest growing populations in the United States, many early childhood educators have been looking for a way to accurately assess DLLs' knowledge. Typical assessments in English do not account for what DLL students may know. For example, these students may know a concept in Spanish, but they may be unable to give an answer in English.
The ELQA Dual Language Assessments provide questions and answers in English and Spanish, allowing the teacher to move through either or both languages to asess. In addition, the teacher is able to mark if both questions and/or answers were provided in English, Spanish, or both. This allows for flexibility in assessing children, and provides a more accurate representation of their knowledge, which helps teachers enhance their effectiveness and improve classroom instruction.
Due to the complex nature of assessing a child in their home language, we recommend that these assessments are conducted by teachers that are fluent in both English and Spanish.
