PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

We currently offer two types of trainings - ELQA: Getting Started and ELQA in Action.  Each interactive course is taught by expert ELQA staff from the University of Oklahoma and includes hands-on activities, in-depth reflection, and group discussion.

ELQA: Getting Started

Our introductory course is designed to teach new ELQA users how to effectively administer our assessments and interpret ELQA data results. By the end of the course, participants will:

• Explore ELQA components
• Review appropriate ELQA classroom set up
• Practice administering the assessments
• Interpret and use ELQA reports to differentiate instruction

Choose from the following Getting Started courses:

• Pre-K Literacy
• Pre-K Numeracy
• Kindergarten Literacy
• Kindergarten Numeracy
• or a combination

ELQA in Action

Our ELQA in Action courses are designed to learn, at a deep level, how to effectively differentiate literacy or numeracy instruction for children by analyzing the Early Literacy Quick Assessment(s) and enhancing knowledge about effective teaching practices and classroom management. 

Participants will:

• Understand formative literacy or numeracy assessment in early childhood
• Gain a deeper understanding of the connection between emergent literacy or numeracy and ELQA
• Learn how to differentiate literacy or numeracy instruction for individual, small group, and whole group by linking ELQA data to instructional goals
• Plan for effective instruction in all literacy or numeracy components assessed by ELQA
• Analyze the ELQA reports effectively to differentiate instruction

ELQA offers continuing education units (CEU) credits through the University of Oklahoma Outreach.
