Enhancing the college and career readiness of American students requires improvement of the instructional process. High quality instructional programs provide:

  • rigorous expectations for all students through aligned standards and comprehensive assessment systems,
  • processes to monitor student growth and mastery of content,
  • high quality early learning approaches aligned to K-12 expectations,
  • expanded learning opportunities throughout all stages of education,
  • rigorous programs of study, including college preparatory, career, and technical education, and
  • aligned resources, structures, and learning supports for students.
