INNOVATION AND SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT

As noted in the Innovative Teaching and Learning Research: 2011 Findings and Implications report from Microsoft’s Partners in Learning initiative, "Innovative teaching practices are more likely to flourish when particular supportive conditions are in place. These conditions include

  • Teacher collaboration that focuses on peer support and the sharing of teaching practices,
  • Professional development that involves the active and direct engagement of teachers, particularly in practicing and researching new teaching methods, and
  • A school culture that offers a common vision of innovation as well as consistent support that encourages new types of teaching."

Continuous school improvement and rapid school improvement strategies rely on evidence-based practices as well as innovations in teaching and learning. For all students to be ready for college and careers, it is imperative that all schools attain excellence. The U.S. Department of Education (ED) states, "For all students to thrive in the classroom, in college, and in a career, our educational system must continuously develop and embrace the very best practices, policies, and ideas."

Seventh Annual C3/SC3 Regional Advisory Boards Meeting

C3 and SC3 are partnering to convene the annual cross-regional advisory board with the goal of receiving input from stakeholders from Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Oklahoma (SC3) and Colorado, Kansas, and Missouri (C3). This year's theme is "Educational Equity: Using Evidence-Based Practices to Close Achievement Gaps."

C3/SC3 Regional Advisory Board Meeting 2018

On August 8, 2018, C3 and SC3 hosted the sixth annual Regional Advisory Board Meeting in an online format! The theme, Equitable Choices + Empowered Voices = Student Success, allowed RAB members to focus on what states, districts, and schools are and should be doing to promote student success for the unique and diverse students of each state.

New Mexico Arts Integration Program (SC3 Projects Update May 2016)

An arts integration experience for New Mexico to build capacity to support and implement a program for some of its districts and schools is underway. To support this endeavor, SC3 connected NMPED Priority Schools Bureau leadership, Eubank Academy of Fine Arts, and APS with Wilson Arts Integration Elementary School in Oklahoma City.

Central Comprehensive Center (C3), North Central Regional Resource Center (NCRRC), and Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) staff members and partners gathered on June 6, 2013, to begin discussion and develop an action plan to design a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS).
