Tell us a little about yourself.

 After high school, I moved to the US. from Hong Kong and graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a BS in Accountancy and MIS. My favorite pastimes include drawing, trying new foods, and traveling to explore new places with my husband and two children.

What are the primary things you do as a Financial Associate II?

My role consists of managing financial operations for the Center for Public Management projects, reviewing and analyzing budget details and accounts, and meeting with people within my department to share information and progress.

What part of this job do you personally find most satisfying?

Identifying new methods to streamline the system can be very rewarding but time-consuming. If successful, though, I love how everyone involved can benefit and give help, allowing people more time to do different things. In addition, I love that my current position allows me to make broader changes through automation and eliminates repetitive data entry.

What sorts of changes are occurring in your occupation?

While I used to deal strictly with accounting and numbers, I've begun to enjoy programming and automation.

Who is your role model, and why?

Snoopy from the Peanuts cartoon is my role model. I love how he can wholeheartedly be himself and stays loyal to his friends.  He also pursues his passions confidently and has been everything from a writer to an astronaut. Feel free to visit my office to see more of Snoopy's personality!

Any other interesting tidbits?

At my first successful job interview in the US, I bonded with my interviewer about doing mental math in the checkout line in the grocery store. Math has always appealed to me through logic, and I enjoy how math problems have definite solutions.
