KGOU Radio Conducts Community Events to Build Trust in Journalism
Published: Thursday, August 8, 2024
KGOU and Oklahoma Watch completed a joint project to visit four Oklahoma communities during Spring 2024 to discuss trust in journalism and to hear community concerns. The project was supported by the Oklahoma Media Center’s Ecosystem Engagement Fund, in association with the Local Media Association, Trusting News, and the Inasmuch Foundation. KGOU general manager Dick Pryor and Oklahoma Watch executive director Ted Streuli conducted the discussion sessions, entitled “Trust Me – I’m a Journalist” in Chickasha, Woodward, Durant, and Ponca City.
The event in Chickasha was highlighted in a PBS documentary short on trust in the news media:

This was the second joint community events project that KGOU has participated in with independent non-profit journalism organization Oklahoma Watch as partner.
