The National Resource Center for Youth Services (NRCYS)

Published: Tuesday, August 22, 2023

Over the past 47 years, the National Resource Center for Youth Services (NRCYS) has established a state and national reputation for offering high-quality, professional training, technical assistance, conferences, and publications.  The Center has built relationships and connections nationwide with public and private youth services and child welfare providers.  NRCYS serves as the umbrella organization for all other Center grant and contract activities. Our mission: to enhance the quality of life of our 'nation's youth and families by improving the effectiveness of human services.

NRCYS is committed to providing individuals and professionals with timely, practical resources to assist them in their work with children, youth, and families. Every year we speak with hundreds of youth, families, and youth care professionals about what works and what will support children, youth, and families grow and thrive. All the resources and services provided by NRCYS are grounded in five core principles for working with children, youth, and families: Trauma Responsiveness, Cultural Responsiveness and Inclusion, Collaboration, Permanent Connections, and Youth Development.

In Oklahoma, NRCYS supports the Oklahoma Successful Adulthood Program for transition-age youth in foster care, the Resource Family Training Program preparing resource families to care for children and youth in foster care, the Trauma Informed Care Project that works with group homes and congregate care organizations to provide trauma responsive services, and the Child Welfare Training Project to prepare new child welfare specialists.
