ELQA FEATURES AND BENEFITS
ASSESSMENTS PROVIDED BY ELQA
Early Learning Quick Assessments (ELQA) are a series of quick assessments that monitor progress in early literacy and numeracy skills during pre-kindergarten and kindergarten. Students’ skills are assessed at intervals throughout the school year so teachers are able to:
- Identify students at risk for not meeting early targets
- Differentiate instruction to prepare children for kindergarten and beyond
With ELQA, administrators are able to:
Compare district, school, and class performance to ELQA targets
Identify possible professional development needs for staff
Explore professional development options for educators
With ELQA, teachers are able to:
Compare class performance to ELQA targets
Determine students' literacy and numeracy goals
Form small groups for planning differentiated instruction
Determine which skills to target for whole group instruction
Share child's progress during parent-teacher conferences
Include individualized reports in the child's portfolio to document literacy/numeracy development throughout the year
With ELQA, parents are able to:
Receive an individualized report, from their child's teacher, showing their child's progress throughout the year
Access content-specific resources to support their child's learning goals
