ACTIVITIES FOR PARENTS AND CHILDREN
Parents play an important role in helping young children learn how to read, write, and do math. The more children engage in learning activities, the better. When children see parents enjoying reading, writing, and doing math, it is more likely they will engage in those activities. For example, reading one book each day with your child exposes them to approximately 78,000 words each year (The Million Word Gap).
By modeling reading, writing, and numeracy every day, parents send the message that literacy and math are important for Kindergarten and beyond.
