EDUTAS Moves Leadership Learning to Virtual Format
Published: Thursday, November 6, 2025
This school year, EDUTAS (EDUcation Technical Assistance Services) is celebrating its 10th year providing high-quality Professional Learning opportunities for Oklahoma school administrators and has launched a new leadership development opportunity for Teacher Leaders. More than 300 school administrators have been sponsored through state funding in the past.
Due to state and Federal funding challenges, Moving UP and Principal Leadership Academy have been combined under one virtual synchronous course. The asynchronous Oklahoma Teacher Leader Program (TLP) was launched October 15th by releasing Modules 1 and 2. Subsequent modules will be released monthly. In both cases EDUTAS is using the University’s Canvas-CE learning platform, allowing participants to take the courses at their own pace, on their own time, and in their own place. Micro credentials are available for both programs upon program completion.
Canvas-CE is OU’s Learning Management System (LMS) for Continuing Education. EDUTAS coordinated resources with Canvas-CE administrator Michelle Meazell, Instructional Technology Manager - Learning Spaces | Information Technology at the Health Sciences campus to secure the infrastructure for the two courses.
More than a recorded zoom event, our courses were intentionally converted and redesigned for online learning. EDUTAS Director Lisa Pryor consulted with CPM learning designer Spencer Brickell and national subject matter expert Jenni Donohoo. This collaboration resulted in the development of 17 individual modules using Articulate and Canvas-CE. Our courses feature modules, assignments, discussions, quizzes, and pages. Additionally both courses feature an AI component for all participants. To foster a collaborative learning experience the courses use Collaborations, Conferences, and Groups. Some participants may create their own ePortfolios to support their micro credentialing process.

Like the campus Canvas, it is an “open and reliable web-based software that allows institutions to manage digital learning, educators to create and present online learning materials and assess student learning, and students to engage in courses and receive feedback about skill development and learning achievement.”
EDUTAS engaged the Outreach E-TEAM to conduct an evaluation of the online format at the end of the school year. This collaboration will support future programming decisions. For more information email lisa.pryor@ou.edu
