Introducing “Professor Pill”: A Smarter Approach to Medication Safety on Campus
Published: Friday, February 27, 2026
The University of Oklahoma Southwest Prevention Center is launching a new campus-wide media initiative designed to increase awareness around prescription medication safety. Meet Professor Pill, a friendly, research-informed campaign character created to help students, faculty, and staff better understand safe use, storage, and disposal of prescription medications.
Developed through the Southwest Prevention Center's Strategic Prevention Framework for Prescription Drugs (SPF-Rx) efforts and informed by student engagement strategies, the Professor Pill campaign delivers clear, approachable messaging across social media, campus media (OU Daily), and outreach events. The goal is simple but important: reduce misuse, increase safe behaviors, and equip the OU community with practical tools to protect their health and the wellbeing of others.
In the coming weeks, you'll see Professor Pill appearing across campus channels with tips, myth-busting content, and opportunities to take action. We invite you to follow along, share the messages, and help amplify a culture of medication safety at OU.
